Recommended Use of SlipperySally Slide Sheets in High Infection Risk Areas (theatre, intensive care units) and Disposal

If the SlipperySally slide sheet is not visibly contaminated and if it will continue to be required by a single patient during their admission then continue to use the SlipperySally during patient admission

The SlipperySally slide sheet should be discarded if:

  • It is accompanying the patient to another healthcare facility
  • The patient is colonized or infected with a pathogen which may not be able to be eliminated from the environment with pH neutral detergent and water

Following use, if the SlipperySally slide sheet is potentially colonized or infected with a pathogen which may not be eliminated with a pH neutral detergent and water it may be:

  • Disposed of in the Medical (Clinical) waste stream

SlipperySally Single Patient Use Slide Sheets should not be recycled if they are heavily soiled or used in a high infection risk area.
